The weekend happened so quickly that you couldn’t quite believe Cardi B strutted in and out of Nigeria, Anthony Joshua retained his world heavyweight title, popular Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke passed on to eternal glory and several other events on our list.

Actually many things shook the world over the weekend but you have half a day to read all so let’s settle for five.

1. Cardi B came to Nigeria

So while you were at home sipping wine or going through a paperwork, Cardi B shook Nigeria on its roots. The American rapper who arrived Nigeria on Friday following her show at Livespot X festival couldn’t hide her excitement about the Nigerian culture.

The Grammy Award rapper visited Silverfox, an adult entertainment strippers club located in Lekki, the Utopia of Lagos with rapper and singer Jidenna. Her Instagram story was a box office magnet as she posted videos of herself spraying money on strippers which got Nigerians talking, but the Queen was already used to that kind of life. Perhaps one of her kindest gestures, while she was in Nigeria, was her visit to the motherless babies home in Lekki where she gave back to the community.

The rapper did not depart Nigeria without adopting a native name; Chioma. She also gave the country rave reviews before leaving for her show in Ghana.
2. Anthony Joshua roars back to Life…
Anthony Joshua has given motivational speakers a content. The boxer who shockingly lost his title to Andy Ruiz earlier this year roars back to life in a dramatic victory on Saturday night in what many would describe as one of the greatest comebacks after the resurrection of Lazarus.

Ruiz had on June produced one of the biggest shocks in the history of heavyweight boxing to rip Anthony Joshua’s IBF, WBO and WBA world heavyweight titles from him. Joshua was the favorite in that fight but admitted after his defeat that he lost to a better fighter.

However, Joshua felt a bit more confident in the rematch and in the 12th round he knocked Andy Ruiz off and the Mexican-American bled on a cold night in Saudi Arabia. Ruiz blamed his defeat to too much partying and weight gain, he has proposed a rematch but it won’t happen too soon as Joshua has moved on to other endeavors.

3. World-Renowned Evangelist passed on

The whole Christian community all over the world woke up to the shocking news of Reinhard Bonnke’s demise on Saturday. His death felt personal to everyone not just Christians but people who had benefitted from his act of benevolence during the period he toured cities and countries sharing the gospel.

Bonnke visited Nigeria in many occasions for a crusade until old age threatened his travels. In his last message, “Checking in and Checking out” he preached like someone who knew he was about to be called home by his maker. He lived an exemplary Christian life and he will surely be missed.
