Anambra Assembly Confirms Justice Anyachebelu As Chief Judge

Anambra State House of Assembly has confirmed Justice Onochie Anyachebelu as the substansive Chief Judge of Anambra State, in an ongoing plenary of the House.

The House confirmed his appointment by Governor of the state, Willie Obiano in line with the recommendations of the National Judicial Council of Nigeria and Section 271 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

Before his confirmation, Justice Anyachebelu had gone through the screening of the House Committee on Election Matters and Screening headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Pascal Agbodike which certified him worthy in learning and character to be the Chief Judge of Anambra State as required by law.

The confirmation followed followed a motion moved by the majourity leader who is the member representing Awka South 1, Hon Pharm. Nnamdi G. Okafor and was seconded by the deputy majority leader, Hon. Emeka Aforka, member representing Orumba North constituency.

He said the Governors request was was in compliance with  the provision of section 271 subsection (1) of the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.

In confirming the request, the house adopted a report presented by the house committee on screening and election matters which recomemded the confirmation of Anyachebelu.
