Yesterday, Wednesday 24th June 2020, a Nigerian, known as Chike from Uli in Anambra state jumped to his death while trying to evade arrest. The young man was trying to jump into one of the floors in a high rise building but ended up falling off from the 9th Storey. He is popular amongst Igbos living in Indonesia and his news has gone viral over there. Chike was said to have died after being rushed to the hospital.
There has been series of Nigerians jumping to their death in Asian countries before this period, from Malaysia to Indonesia and even Cambodia, same has always been the fate for young guys who left the country seeking for greener pastures, only to fall, victims of Visa racketeers that sometimes, give them fake papers. In some cases, they indulge in illicit businesses, from Cybercrimes to drug peddling and even sometimes Armed robbery.
In the case of Chike, his crime is not known to the public and the motive behind the fall wasn’t shared as he is not alive to tell his story. A video that has since gone viral, as captured by a distance neighbor showed how he attempted to jump but things went sour, as he fell off. In the same manner, Chike’s friend, that once shared same apartment with Chike also jumped to his death in like manner, in January this year. According to the information that anaedoonline.com gathered, Ogo, as he is called, died on the 23rd, January 2020, In the same manner, but different floor, as his was from a 12th storey. His body has been in a mortuary in Indonesia since January of this year.
