IGP Suspends Entry Requirements For Constables

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has suspended the entry requirements for applicants seeking to be recruited as constables.

The decision was taken after the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Mohammed Adamu directed that no candidate should be disqualified irrespective of their physical appearance, age, and qualification.

According to reports, the message from the police boss to all commands dated August 24 directed that candidates who successfully submitted their online applications to police recruitment portal should be attended to irrespective of their physical appearance, age, and qualification.

IGP Adamu also urged police commands to ensure that the entire recruitment process is transparent and free of corruption.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that the police had earlier mandated applicants seeking recruitment into the force as constables to meet certain requirements ranging from physical to academic qualifications.

Meanwhile, the police has announced locations for the screening of candidates in Rivers and Lagos states for the 2020 recruitment process. Elkana also told the applicants that their screening will be determined by the local government areas where they come from.

He also admonished the applicants to report to the screening venue which is the police college Ikeja by 8am on the date that they indicated for there various local government areas.

In other news, the minister of police affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi has said the ministry under his watch has recorded a significant milestone within one year after its re-establishment in August 2019 by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Addressing journalists on Friday, August 21, the minister said even though the past one year was riddled with challenges, the ministry under his watch made efforts to live up to its vision of repositioning the Nigeria Police Force.

While noting that the ministry is committed to keying into President Buhari’s vision of frontally dealing with myriads of insecurity bedevilling the country, Dingyadi stated that a new internal security framework to enhance police operations is in the works.
