Officer Sacked For Looting COVID-19 Palliatives In Abuja

Recall that on Monday, hoodlums attacked a warehouse said to be owned by the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the FCT Administration at the Gwagwalada Area Council around 9:00 am. Bags of rice, cartons of noodles and spaghetti, were looted from the warehouse.

Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps(NSCDC) has sacked an officer, Corps Assistant Illiya Ibrahim after the COVID-19 palliatives looting. The officer had earlier been spotted in a trending video carrying three bags of rice at the warehouse while other looters hailed.

On Tuesday evening, Ekundayo Gbenga, Media Assistant to the Commandant General, NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, disclosed that the disciplinary action was taken after a series of investigations and deliberations were made by the junior disciplinary committee, and recommendations made to the management.

“This disciplinary measure was taken after a series of investigations and deliberations by the junior disciplinary committee, and recommendations were made to the management. The recommendation was given after the officer was charged under the public service rule which is unbecoming conduct of officers,” the statement read.

Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, the Commandant General tasked NSCDC personnel to remain committed and honest in the performance of their duties.
