Shehu Sani Slams Senate Over Call For Service Chiefs’ Sacking

Senator Shehu Sani has taken a swipe at the Nigerian Senate as the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) refused to sack the Service Chiefs.

This comes after the Senate, during Tuesday’s plenary sitting, urged the to sack service chiefs as a result of their failure to secure Nigerians.

Their recommendation comes in the wake the gruesome slaughtering of at least 43 rice farmers at the Zabarmari rice plantation in Borno State on Saturday.’

Meanwhile, a presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, had earlier spoken that the president has the final say over the sack of the Service Chiefs and at the moment, he (Buhari) is satisfied with their performance.

“If the president is satisfied with their performance, he keeps them. And the buck stops on his table with all due respect to the feelings of Nigerians.

“The clamour for the sack if out of place considering that the president is not subject to the opinion of the opposition political party which has clamoured for this all the time.

“He decides who he keeps as a service chief and for how long,” Shehu said on Arise TV on Tuesday.

Reacting on his verified Twitter account on Tuesday, Sani who represented Kaduna Central, tweeted:

“When we told the President to remove the Service Chiefs because they have failed, the President’s men opposed our motion and told the President not to remove the Service Chiefs; Now they want the Service Chiefs removed and the President is standing by their earlier recommendation.”
