Regina Daniels, The Real Reasons She Married Ned Nwoko

Actress and film producer Regina Daniels is one of Nigeria’s A-list actresses whose love life (Read as marriage to Billionaire Ned Nwoko) is a hot topic that still steams in Nigeria’s media space, long after she became Mrs. Nwoko and after giving birth to their first child.
It is not hard to see why her marriage has continued to be on the front burner. Firstly, gossip is a multi-million naira industry in Nigeria and the marriage of a female celebrity attracts interests. Secondly, Regina Daniels at some point was Nigerians’ sweetheart, this can be credited to her age and her looks; to have his sweetheart snatched away by a man whose main asset was money was rather a shock to her fans and the best revenge is gossip, bordering on slander.
Again, Reginald Daniels’ married is full of eyebrow-raisers: She got married to a far older man who is super-rich, who is a polygamist with five prior wives, and who then went on to marry the seventh wife, and who allegedly took her to a ritual of fidelity. The scene is set for the blogs to rave.

The ritual controversy
A while after her wedding, the controversy of the ritual broke out. This ritual in fact forbade Regina from having any sexual intercourse with anyone who is not her husband. This ritual is also an initiation into the married women’s association in Anioma, Delta State.
To perform this ritual, they made Regina Daniels wear the customary “akwa ocha”. This ritual described as creepy to most people is symbolic as it confirmed her marriage to the 60-year-old billionaire in a traditional ceremony.
A young Nigerian lady identified as Onuh Chisom Maryjane brought this news to the internet. She went on to share her thoughts on this ancient marital induction, claiming it has lots of implications that are not so good (both seen and unseen) for the new bride.
According to Chisom, the initiation is a way to demand that Regina be faithful to her husband without making similar demands on him. Chisom claimed that the initiation grants the actress permission to pleasure herself if her husband isn’t available but if Regina involves another party, she would die. She also claimed that if the husband becomes aware of an affair and does nothing he would be punished as well.

With this ritual, it is claimed, even if the husband dies the wife is not expected to remarry until she goes through another round of a ritual to untie herself from the man she was married to. Failure to follow the rules of the ritual would mean death for the people involved in it.

She began her acting career at the age of 7 with her first movie is “Miracle child”. She got her big shot when she featured in a popular movie titled ‘Marriage of Sorrow which earned her 10,000 naira. A forgettable sum but one that has proved symbolic for the size her brand has grown into.
Regina claims that her mother who is also a popular actress and the Chairman of the Actors Guide of Nigeria Delta State Chapter was her ladder to success in the movie industry. According to Regina, her mother sacrificed so much to get her to where she is today.
Regina has now featured in over 100 movies with her most popular arguably “Destiny Child” which can be said o be her breakout movie. She was in this film alongside superstars such as Ini Edo, Mercy Johnson, and Tonto Dike. At the time of writing this, one of her movies is airing on Showmax titled “Shakira the Selfie Queen”.

The real reasons Regina Daniels married Ned Nwoko

When Regina Daniels married Ned Nwoko, she was 19 and he 59. Rumours have been rive that Regina’s lavish lifestyle was funded by billionaire and lawmaker Ned Nwoko. This rumour got a degree of verification when she was spotted dancing with Ned Nwoko at an award ceremony. As a sugar daddy, Ned Nwoko could serve, but no one suspected that this would end in a marriage.
This became the most talked about wedding in Nigeria as so many people weighed in diverse opinions as to why would a young beautiful and talented Regina marry a man old enough to be her father (and grandfather if he started early)?
Many assumed it could only be for financial benefits.
However, in an interview shortly after her wedding, Regina revealed the real reason why she married Ned Nwoko. Regina revealed she married Ned because she is very stubborn and men within the 30 years age bracket cannot handle her let alone men below 30. Ironically, she said with Ned, age is just a number and she that she fell madly in love with him.
Her marriage to Ned made her much more known at least in the wealthier circle. Regina Daniels was appointed by PDP Presidential flagbearer in the 2019 elections, Atiku Abubakar, as youth campaign coordinator. Many attributed this to the influence of her man, Ned Nwoko.

Here are possible reasons why Regina Daniels married Ned Nwoko:

One, he did it for his money and influence.

Two, she truly loves the man. Yes, some ladies are known to be attracted to older men genuinely. From her words, it is not out farfetched to place Regina Daniels in this rare category.

Three, it was an adventure gone too far. It could be she was with Ned for what he is and then found herself in a marriage with him. Things could have moved too fast for her or she had got herself so much indebted to him to a stage where only her marriage to him could pay.

We may never know the real reason why she married him but if she finds happiness we are contented. We should be.
