The need to analyse the types of unknown gunmen is urgent

Updated: Unknown Gunmen Kill Man In Cold Blood In Enugu (Video)

by Okechukwu

The fatal activities of unknown gunmen across the federation with a strong stamp in the Southeast unclenched its ugly claws again. Today, 30th May 2021, at around 5pm, a man was shot in cold blood in Enugu.

This happened in Garden Avenue, GRA Enugu. Garden Avenue is a section of Abakaliki Road between All Saints Bus Stop, off Polo Park Mall and Subway Bus Stop just after the Central Bank of Nigeria branch.

The unknown gunmen brought the man in a jeep driven to the traffic light area of the roundabout that leads to the Tunnel that links Garden Avenue with Ogui Road. They got him out of the car and shot him. Thrice.

Someone caught this moment with his/her phone and made it public. While we couldn’t speak to the person who covered the nefarious act, we spoke to some of the people who live in the area.

“We heard the gunshots,” Ada (not real name) told Anaedoonline, “but we didn’t think anything of it. I thought maybe it was something else.”

By “something else”, Ada was saying that she didn’t think the gunshots were fatal. She only became aware when a friend sent the video to a WhatsApp group she belongs to.

Police reveals how Gulak was killed

The second resident of the area who spoke to us said she knew it was the sound of gunshots but she thought it was the random gunshots that rent the air most evenings which were not punctuated by the report of someone dying.

Today’s gunshots were different, someone was killed. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man has not been identified by the time we filed this story but his case is not unidentical. Unknown gunmen mostly operate with stolen vehicles and this might be murder after a car snatching operation.

On Saturday, May 29th, a man lost his car to unknown gunmen. He was lucky to only get thrown out of the speeding car. He could have been shot and become one of the dozens of victims of unknown gunmen who are now becoming just statistics.

Update: We can now ascertain that the man killed by the police is Justice Nnaji. Here the latest information on the matter.
