On Wednesday 7th July 2021, Darius Ishaku the Governor of Taraba State has asked the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to go after major sponsors of terrorism and bandits in the country.

Speaking on Channels TV on Wednesday night, the governor stated that if Nigeria’s government could capture the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra Nnamdi Kanu in a foreign country why can it not deal with bandits who are killing citizens across the country.

According to him, there are powerful sponsors who are arming bandits with weapons and it is the work of Nigerian security agencies to fish them out.

“As a governor, I have asked security operatives these questions during our security meetings. One, how are the insurgents surviving, where do they get AK-47, why is it that they are invisible that they are not being caught?” Ishaku asked.

“If there are no answers to these three questions, then you know that there are sponsors. These are brand new AK-47, how will a local man go by such an expensive weapon.

It is all over the place where somebody was confessing that these guns were being provided to them and they were being trained.”

On Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest, Ishaku stated that if security agencies can carry out such operations successfully, combating bandits who are killing Nigerians shouldn’t be a problem.

“It is the work of the security agencies to get to the root.

“If they can go outside this country to arrest people who are declaring for independence, why are they not able to defeat those who are killing our own citizens here in the farms?” There is more to it than meets the eye,” he said.
