The outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has sued U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, as well as Lloyd Austin, the United States Secretary of Defense, over the sale of warplanes to Nigeria.

IPOB said the Muhammadu Buhari government will use the warplanes to attack its members.

United States-based constitutional and international law barrister, Bruce Fein filed the case in a federal court in Washington last Saturday on behalf of IPOB and 10 unidentified individuals based in southeastern Nigeria.

Fein is seeking the court to direct Blinken and Austin to block the transfer of six A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and to seek the return of six that were recently delivered.

According to IPOB, “reasonably fear that the A-29 Super Tucano aircraft will be used imminently to kill or maim them physically or to destroy their property.”

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that six Super Tucano aircraft arrived Nigeria last month — bascially to combat insecurity.

Edward Gabkwet, the director of public relations and information, air force headquarters, announced the development in a statement in Abuja at the time.

Gabkwet said the aircraft arrived Kano State, North-West Nigeria.

Bashir Magashi, the minister of defence; Faruk Yahaya, chief of army staff; and Oladayo Amao, chief of air staff, received the aircraft.
