If you have never watched “The Johnsons” on Africa Magic channels, two things are involved. You have don’t own GOTV or DSTV, and your family and friends and neighbours and associates do not own GOTV or DSTV. Or, you just fell from the sky for which we say a judgemental welcome.
“The Johnsons” began in 2011 and has grown to become one of the longest-lasting and still-loved series in Nigeria. “Tinsel” is arguably the only longer-lasting series. But when you mention “Tinsel”, a lot of people would push their noise and say the show should be ended.
No one says this about “The Johnsons” which says more about Nigerians than about Tinsel, but today is not the day to shatter tables. Today, we would be taking a long look at Susan Pwajok who plays the role of Blessing Johnson in the show and all the teenager has been up to.
Age
The actress was born on the 15th of January, 2003 (which makes her 18 at the time this article was published) with the birth name, Susan Laraba Pwajok in Lagos State, Nigeria. However, her parents are from Berom, an ethnic group in Plateau State.
While the identities of her parents haven’t been verified, there have been a lot of speculations that the teenage actress lacked a fatherly presence owing to her tweet and Instagram posts on Father’s Day where she wished her mother instead and shared old photos of her beautiful mother.
Career
Susan is best known for her role in the viewers’ favourite sitcom, “The Johnsons”, where she stars alongside Charles Inojie, Chinedu Ikedieze, Ada Ameh, Olumide Oworu, and Samuel Ajibola (who has now left the show). In the sitcom, Susan plays the character of Blessing, the last daughter, and child of a funnily overbearing Charles Inojie’s scientist-character.
Nonetheless, Susan’s Nollywood career didn’t begin with The Johnsons. She started off as a three-year-old stage actress in the drama “Adaobi Is Getting Married”. She made appearances in a few other plays before taking a 6-year break from the stage to focus on her education.

Afterward, her first notable drama film appearance was in “The Tunnel” (2014) where she started alongside some big names including Waje, Patrick Doyle, Nse Ikpe Etim, and Femi Jacobs. The movie tells the story of the struggles of a young pastor and his journey to ultimate fulfillment and the movie grossed big in the cinemas at the time.
In the same year, Susan was in the auditions for Tinsel, but she was picked to feature on AFRICA MAGIC ORIGINAL FILMS instead and starred in a number of movies. Other single movies and series Susan has starred in include “Stopping Choice, Steer Wheel, Steel Bling, Coverup, Keeping Lucy, and Night Raid.
In 2017, Susan Pwajok was nominated for the Best Actress in a Comedy Series in the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) and also the Movie Personality of the Year Award of the Nigeria Child. She ended up winning the latter award.
Yes, I reject roles. This depends on my character and what they want me to portray. If it is against my beliefs and values, I will not take it. In my family, we have standards, values and certain things we can’t do in public. I am from Jos; a northerner, so there are things I can’t do and roles I can’t accept.”
If you ever wondered why you don’t see her on many shows and films, it is because she rejects roles a lot. While Susan Pwajok might be liberal in her pictorial poses, she is very selected in the roles she portrays. Speaking with The Sun in April 2021, she said:
“Yes, I reject roles. This depends on my character and what they want me to portray. If it is against my beliefs and values, I will not take it. In my family, we have standards, values, and certain things we can’t do in public. I am from Jos; a northerner, so there are things I can’t do and roles I can’t accept.”
The other side of Susan Pwajok
Susan is equally doubling as a model. She started off as a child model for KF Faces at Ikeja, Lagos State, and continues to grace the commercials of popular brands including an advert for Samsung Galaxy S20 FE where she featured alongside Nigerian songwriter, Koredo Bello and another young Millwood actress, Esther Uzodinma.
Susan currently models for Payporte, a multi-million online store that provides fashion lifestyles for women including clothes, shoes, bags, watches, and so on. Susan Pwajok is currently a brand ambassador for Hewlett-Packard (HP), a software company.
According to ThrillNG, the actress is worth $60,000. She promotes weight loss products on her social media space for Pharmacist Ella.
