There was anger in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Wednesday over the alleged killing of a teenager around Mokola area of the city.

It was gathered that the boy, whose identity could not be ascertained, was shot dead by some Amotekun Corps who were chasing some armed robbery suspects.

The boy, said to be an apprentice in a printing shop, was said to have stayed with his boss to work overnight on some project and was sent to go and buy food when he was shot.

The killing led to a protest and the youths who carried the corpse of the slain teenager to the State Secretariat where the Governor’s Office is located made bonfires at various junctions on their way to the place.

The protest forced security agents at the entrance of the secretariat to shut the main gate. More policemen were deployed at the place to beef up security.

One of the printers at Mokola who identified himself as Tosin, told Newsmen that the killing should not be swept under the carpet.

He said, ” It was a tragic even but my take is that those responsible for the killing should be made to pay for it.”

Effort to speak with the Commandant of Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (retd.) was abortive.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Adewale Osifeso, has also yet to respond to the inquiry sent to him by our correspondent.
