Unknown gunmen today, 30th September 2021, attacked the motorcade of House of Representative member, Hon. Chris Emeka Azubogu, representing Nnewi North, Nnewi South/Ekwusigo Constituency.
Information reaching Anaedoonline.ng revealed that the incident took place at Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area. Azubogu wasn’t hurt but his driver was shot dead.
The PDP House of Representative member who lost out to Valentine Ozigbo in the party primary election for the Anambra State Governorship election was said not to be in the motorcade at the time of the attack.
This is another example of how the South East has become a hotbed of insecurity. On Tuesday, the late Prof. Dora Akunyili’s husband was murdered in Nkpor, a suburb of Onitsha. On Sunday, APC members were attacked and killed in Nnewi; on Monday, APGA local party chairman was assassinated in Nnobi, and the son of the popular commissioner of education Anambra State, Prof Kate Omenugha, narrowly escaped death when he was attacked by armed hoodlums.
