Amid Nnamdi Kanu Extradition Case, Kenya Ambassador to Nigeria, Slumps, Dies in Abuja

Kenya’s high commissioner to Nigeria, Wilfred Machage, has died.

Machage is said to have fainted at his Abuja home on Saturday and was transported to the hospital.

Kenya’s ministry of foreign affairs confirmed Machage’s death in a statement, expressing regret at his passing.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs regrets to inform the tragic death of Hon Dr. Ambassador Wilfred Machage, Kenya’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, who happened today,” the statement says.

“Ambassador Machage fainted at home and was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after at approximately 12.30 p.m. on Saturday afternoon in Abuja, Nigeria.”

When he fell, his wife was present with him at his home.

Machage was appointed high commissioner to Nigeria in January 2018.
