Jonathan Reveals Nigeria Fate After 2023 Elections

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has allayed worries that Nigeria could break up following the general elections in 2023.

On Monday, he addressed at the Council of the WISE strategic retreat and planning workshop hosted in Lagos by the Economic Community of West African States.

Previous forecasts of Nigeria’s disintegration have failed, he said.

The former president also voiced confidence in the credibility of the elections in 2023.

“There is always this concern that the country may disintegrate when elections are approaching,” he remarked. However, as you can see, the country has stayed steady,” he said.

“When I was in office, (during) the 2015 elections, some people were sending words out of the country, but nothing happened at the end of the day. So 2023 will come and go and this country will remain.”
