The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have expressed worry over the health of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who is currently jailed.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the party’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, stated the organisation was no longer certain of Kanu’s health.

It urged the Department of State Services to come out and tell the world why Kanu’s family and attorneys were being kept in the dark.

The organization also stated that the Federal Government and security services should be aware that Kanu, as a political prisoner, should not be treated in any way, and that the only alternative left was for him to be released unconditionally or face the repercussions of his detention for so long.

It cautioned that if anything bad occurred to the IPOB leader, the Federal Government and its security forces would be held liable for the devastating repercussions of such an avoidable situation.

“Our attention has been brought to the refusal by the DSS in Abuja to allow family members and lawyers to visit our leader, Nnamdi Kanu, during his usual visitation in DSS custody on Monday,” the organization wrote.

“We also recall that when family members and attorneys went to meet our leader last Thursday, the DSS denied them entry. On Thursday last week, our legal team went to the DSS office in Abuja, but the DSS refused to let them meet our boss. They were refused them entrance to the facility once more on Monday.

Is Nnamdi Kanu Alive? – IPOB Allays Fears Over It’s Leader

“For now we are not sure of his state of health, if he is still alive at all. The DSS should open up and tell the world why they are shielding our leader from the family and lawyers. Have they eliminated him?

“We are informing the international community and all diplomatic missions in Abuja to be aware of the provocative actions of the DSS. Nobody should blame IPOB for anything, because the Federal Government and its security agencies have pushed us to the wall enough.”
