LATEST: FG To Give $100 Each To Nigerian Returnees From Ukraine

Each Nigerian returnee from Ukraine would get $100 (N56,000) from the federal government for transportation and meals.

Ambassador Zubairu Dada, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, said the government will pay the returnees when they clear the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The Nigerian government had already released $8.5 million for the emergency evacuation of 5,000 Nigerians stuck as a result of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.

Remember that the first group of Nigerians trapped in Ukraine as a result of Russia’s incursion landed in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital.

The citizens, numbering 416, were brought into the country from Romania via Max Air at about 7:10 am (WAT) on Friday.

Most of the returning citizens, who are students studying in the warring zone, were received by Edward Adedokun, Director Search and Rescue of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA); officials of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
