MC Oluomo: Lagos Takes Over Parks, Suspends NURTW Over Crisis

The Lagos State Government has suspended the operations of the National Union of Road Transport Workers Union (NURTW), one day after MC Oluomo was suspended.

The NURTW State Chairman, Musiliu Akinsanya, was asked to resign down by the national leadership.

As a result of the suspension, Oluomo stated that the Lagos chapter would be quitting the organization and urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take over the parks.

Gbenga Omotoso, the Information Commissioner, stated that the administration has been closely monitoring happenings.

His message on Thursday night noted the assertions and counter-claims about the union’s power.

Omotoso stated that the government has a responsibility to safeguard the safety of Lagosians and tourists’ lives and property.

The official emphasized the importance of calming the “unnecessary tension” created by the NURTW leadership squabble and protecting people from the situation’s potential consequences.

“The Government thus suspends the activities of NURTW, which must stop to operate in all parks and garages in Lagos State,” he stated, citing the law’s stipulations.

Omotoso declared that an urgent committee of important stakeholders will be formed to assume charge of the parks.
