China has stated that it has never received a request for assistance from Russia in the Ukraine conflict.
Russia did not make any such request for military supplies or other help to support China’s fight, according to the Chinese authorities.
Russia had approached China for military weaponry as well as economic support, according to two US officials who spoke to CNN over the weekend.

Zhao Lijian, a spokeswoman for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told a press conference that the US was “peddling falsehoods.”
“Recently, the US side has been peddling lies against China on the Ukraine problem with malicious motives,” the Minister remarked when asked about Russia’s alleged request for assistance.
“China’s position on the Ukraine issue is consistent and clear, and we have been playing a constructive role in promoting peace talks.”
China said the war in Ukraine must not continue, adding that it was imperative for both parties to cool down the tension.

He said his country was not ready to add fuel to the fire, insisting it is important to push for a diplomatic solution, rather than further escalating the situation.
