“Obiano was arrested and is still in our custody,” an EFCC official said, vowing to detail the anti-graft agency’s future steps in the coming days.

Obiano was hauled up by EFCC operatives at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 8:30 p.m., according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The ex-governor was apprehended while attempting to board an aircraft to the United States. He had been on the EFCC’s watch list since November 15, 2021.

Obiano was arrested just hours after handing over to his successor, Charles Soludo, in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, just as his immunity was about to expire.
