Dangote: Buhari Commissions Largest Fertiliser Plant In Africa

President Muhammadu Buhari has inaugurated Africa’s largest and world’s second-largest fertiliser plant.

On Tuesday, the President inaugurated the Dangote Fertilizer Plant in the Lekki district of Lagos State, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

At the plant’s commissioning, Buhari thanked the Dangote Fertiliser team for their hard work and dedication in ensuring the facility’s successful launch.

He claimed that the fertiliser factory will aid his government’s efforts to ensure the country’s food security.

Buhari stated that his administration is committed to creating an atmosphere that allows the private sector to prosper and contribute its fair share to the country’s growth.

“This is a demonstration of enhancing the country’s socio-development,” he remarked.

“Through a tax credit system on road building in the country and the rehabilitation of railway lines for ease of goods transportation, we are cooperating with the private sector.”

Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Dangote Group, stated in his speech that the $2.5 billion factory will generate three million metric tonnes of urea per year.

The plant, according to the owner, is Africa’s largest and the world’s second-largest urea plant.

The fertilizers facility, according to Dangote, will cut unemployment in Nigeria and provide farmers with vast supplies of fertiliser.

He said the capacity of the plant will be expanded to produce multi grades of fertiliser to meet soil, crop, and climate-specific requirement for the African continent.

“It is an ambitious project that will reduce unemployment in Nigeria.

“Low fertiliser usages have been the reason for low yield of agriculture products in the sector.

“Our goal is to make fertiliser available in quantity for our farmers. We are rolling out initiatives that will transform the agric sector for all.

“This will boost productivity and enhance output across the nation,” he said.
