Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra and a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared that Nigeria has all the characteristics of a failing state.
Obi stated this on Tuesday at the Freedom Online newspaper’s 4th annual lecture in Lagos, which was titled “Nigeria’s Political Indices: Bright or Bleak Future.”
He believes the country is suffering from a series of leadership failures, emphasizing that inadequate leadership is the country’s fundamental concern.

Failure to address the country’s leadership difficulties, according to the PDP’s vice presidential candidate in the 2019 elections, might mean doom for the country.
Obi urged Nigerians to vote for realistic leaders in next year’s elections, emphasizing that the country must get the leadership question right in 2023.
He said: “We have all the indices of a failed state. What we are experiencing today is a cumulative leadership failure. We are facing an uncertain future. We have everything but we lack leadership, everything can be destroyed by poor leadership which is the problem of Nigeria.
“The quality of leadership is poor and the selection process of the leadership is also poor. We have a divided country but we need a leader that can bring Nigerians together.”
