The ‘095 set of the Nnewi High School in Nnewi, Anambra state on the 23rd of March 2022 had an exclusive gathering with some parent and management of the school and delivered a cheque of 385,000 meant to cover the waec fees of 20 indigent students of the school.

Speaking to the students and parents present the representative of the ‘095 set of the above mentioned association chaired by Sir Nnamdi Udeaja, encouraged the boys to always keep in touch with themselves even after school in order for them to give back to others when the time comes just as they have been given. He cautioned parent to be mindful of the words they used on their wards to avoid instigating them into engaging into evil practices currently invoke in the society. He promised that the overall best science student after the exam will be given a brand new laptop, he also added that since the Waec is starting on the 16th of May, which is also his birth date, that the student with the best score for the exam that will be written on that day, that he will pay the student first semester school fees of any Federal Universityof their choice.

One of the representatives, Ide (sir) Hugo Anosike (KSM), spoke at length on how they started as youngs boys in the school and the struggles they faced, he clearly mentioned that the set of ‘095 are here to give back to the society and paying the fees of these students is one out of the many ways. He advised the parents present to try as much as possible to give their all in the training of their wards, he ended by stating “a person who laughs last, laughs the best”

Speaking to the students present, Prince Chibueze Orizu; one of the representatives cautioned the students on good conduct and hard work, he iterated that their success is in their hands and it is only dependent on time.

The principal Mr Aghadinuno Godwin narrated how a bright students with no hope of furthering his studies benefitted from the generosity of the Old Boys Association. He appreciated the association and posited that others should key into the good will.

Mr Chukwujekwu Uba; one of the parents present thanked dearly the association for their magnitude, he recounted how sponsoring his 5 kids has been a great burden to him, and hearing that one of his child is benefitting from the show of love has been music to his soul.

Mrs Philomena Chukwu, also one of the parents present narrated her plight, passionately thanked the association for their good will, she further appreciated the teachers for their good works in the field.

Ugo Ikechukwu Micheal; the deputy prefect of the school, who is also a beneficiary, spoke on behalf of his fellow students, thanked and prayed for the association for counting them worthy of their benevolence.

Speaking on behalf of the teachers, Mr Ugo Ikedife stated that the gathering is the first of it’s kind in the school. He said that the process of selecting the students for the scholarship was a critical and well calculated process, he further encouraged the students to be hardworking and focused in all their dealings.
