Anambra: Unknown Gunmen Invade, Burn Nnewi South LG Secretariat, Ukpor (Details)

Unknown gunmen set fire to the Nnewi South Local Government Area Secretariat in Ukpor, Anambra State, in the early hours of Thursday.

During the attack, the invading gunmen also murdered one individual, who was claimed to be one of the security guards on duty at the secretariat.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the event produced tension in the region, with inhabitants fleeing to safety for fear of being caught up in the onslaught.

Why Gunmen Are Killing Security Operatives Across South East

The alarming occurrence has been verified by the Anambra State Police Command’s spokesperson, Ikenga Tochukwu, who stated that operatives have been dispatched to the location.

He did say, however, that the number of casualties could not be confirmed right away since complete facts of the incident had not yet been released.

Men from the State Fire Service have arrived at the secretariat and are attempting to put out the fire, according to Tochukwu.

While initial indications indicate arson, the police PRO stated that the Anambra Commissioner of Police had visited the location to investigate the situation.
