Prison Break: One Feared Dead, Many Injured As Security Operatives Foil Jailbreak In Rivers State

After a dispute that escalated into an attempted jailbreak at the Port Harcourt correctional institution in Rivers State on Monday afternoon, one inmate is said to have killed and over 12 others were injured.

According to accounts, some inmates protested after a brawl between two convicts resulted in the death of one of them.

After several convicts attempted to scale the facility’s high walls, they were repulsed by an united team of security personnel who fired beyond the gate, injuring 12 of them seriously.

Juliet Ofoni, a spokeswoman for the Port Harcourt Correctional Centre, verified the occurrence.
