BREAKING: Unknown Gunmen Abduct 10 Herdsmen, 300 Cows, Demand For Guns, N4m As Ransom In Anambra

Gidado Siddiki, the South East Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), has stated that gunmen have purportedly abducted 10 of his members along with 300 cows in Anambra State.

The gunmen, who wanted N4 million in ransom and a pistol from the victims’ families, carried out the operation at 1.30 a.m. on Saturday in Obene Community in Ogbaru local government area.

MACBAN members were kidnapped in their sleep, according to Siddiki, by gunmen with sophisticated weaponry such as firearms, cutlasses, sticks, and charms.

He revealed that they made contact with the victims’ families and demanded N4 million and one rifle as ransom.

“As I speak to you now, I have reported the incident to the Police and DSS for prompt action,” he informed.

While appealing to the gunmen to release the herdsmen and their cows, Siddiki said herders were always accused of crime, even in situations where they were the victims.

He however praised Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo of Anambra State for constituting a peace and reconciliation committee to address the security challenges in the State and the South East region.

Confirming the incident, Anambra police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu urged the leadership of Miyetti Allah in the State to come up with more information that would enable the Police get on top of the matter.

“Yes, we are aware of the incident, but we want the Miyetti Allah leadership to supply us with more information, since the Kidnappers have established ransom contact with the victims families,” he said.
