2023: Tanko Yakassai Reveals Those Behind Number of Southern Aspirants For APC Presidential Ticket

An elder statesman, Tanko Yakassai, has claimed that some cabals in the presidency are driving the growing number of presidential hopefuls in the All Progressives Congress, APC, from the southern portion of Nigeria.

According to Yakassai, cabals in Aso rock are urging contenders from the South to buy APC Presidential nomination forms.

He said the goal was to quell calls for the APC to zone its presidential ticket to the country’s south.

In a statement, the elder statesman said: “We know it that all these presidential aspirants of the APC from the South are being encouraged by some cabals in the Presidency for the purpose of breaking the clamour for a southern presidential candidate from the APC.

“The cabals are doing it to break the ranks of the southern part of the country that are clamouring for a power shift.”

The APC has a considerable number of people from the southern region of the nation who have expressed interest in running for President.

Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi, Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige, Minister of State for Education Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu, and Imo West Senator Rochas Okorocha are all fighting for the APC ticket.

Bola Tinubu, APC National Leader; Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi; and Pastor Tunde Bakare, among others, are contending for the party’s presidential ticket in the Southwest.
