Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has been verified as a member of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Nduka Erikpume, the APC Chairman of Ward 6 in Delta State’s Ika South Local Government Area, confirmed the news.

On Sunday, he informed Newsmen that the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria had joined the APC.

This follows news that Emefiele has recruited renowned constitutional and human rights lawyer Mike Ozekhome (SAN) to seek the Federal High Court’s interpretation of his engagement in politics while still serving as governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

Remember that the CBN faced considerable criticism when some groups and friends bought the N100 million APC presidential nomination form for him.

Emefiele was compelled to withdraw from the campaign to become President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023 as a result of the criticism.

The financial guru said in a post on his Twitter handle on Sunday that he has yet to decide on his political ambitions, but that if he does, he will buy the form himself with money earned from his ’35 years’ in banking top roles.

However, reports claim that Emefiele has entrusted Ozekhome with obtaining an interpretation of the constitution and public service laws regarding public workers pursuing elected posts while in government.

A top CBN source told Newsmen that, “Emefiele has just briefed Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN) as his lawyer. He has just filed a case in court and is coming up tomorrow (today, Monday).”

Although the details of the suit were still sketchy Sunday night, another source in the APC said Ozekhome was taking up the matter “for certain constitutional interpretations.”
