Former President Olusegun Obasanjo met behind closed doors with three serving governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

Governors Nyesom Wike of Rivers, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Samuel Ortom of Benue were all in Abeokuta on Monday to visit the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library.

They had gone to see Balogun Owu to discuss Wike’s presidential ambitions in 2023, together with former Cross River Governor Donald Duke and others.

After the encounter, Obasanjo told reporters that Wike had contacted him to notify him of his presidential ambitions, but that he just wished him luck because he was no longer involved in party politics.

However, Obasanjo said he would not cease to be a politician if it has to do with the welfare of the people.

He said “Of course, Governor Nyesom Wike as a presidential aspirant expressed to me the desire and of course I made the point that I have always made that, I have ceased to be a partisan politician.
