Fr Kelvin Ugwu, a Nigerian Catholic priest residing in Malawi, believes that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi’s choice to abandon the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was justified.

Obi announced his resignation from the main opposition party and withdrawal from the presidential contest on Wednesday.

The news sparked outrage on social media, with many people expressing their displeasure with the former candidate’s decision.

According to the clergy, Obi does not have the chance to win the PDP presidential primary election when the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar is also battling for it.

He wrote, “You are blaming Peter Obi for leaving PDP. You know for sure that with the constitutional arrangement and selection of delegates, he does not have any chance of winning the primaries with PDP when Atiku is there.

“You want him to share money with all the delegates, especially the Northern delegates, and compromise his principles by promising them ministerial positions after the elections so that the cycle of corruption will continue?
