Former Governor of Abia State and Senate Chief Whip, Orji Uzor Kalu, has been awarded a special appointment by Senate President Ahmad Lawan.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, Ahmad, a Presidential candidate, has named Kalu as Director-General of his Central Campaign Organization.

Kalu’s selection, as well as that of the Chairmen of the campaign’s eight committees, was revealed in a closed-door meeting in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Thursday.

Kalu is expected to oversee the campaign organization in order to foster more coherence, allowing Lawan to emerge as the APC’s presidential candidate during the presidential primary and ultimately win the general election in 2023.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, claims that the country’s two major political parties have lost their political importance.

Obi asserted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will both be unable to win the general elections in 2023 because Nigerians had abandoned both parties.

He said that thanks to the backing of Nigerian workers, youths, and market women, the Labour Party will beat both parties in the 2018 presidential election.

The former Governor of Anambra State said the strategy of the party will be to reawaken the Nigerian workers and charge them to rescue the country from the APC.

Obi made this known on Wednesday while speaking with journalists through his campaign Director-General, Dr. Doyin Okupe, in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
