Southern Presidency: Tinubu, Osinbajo, Fayemi, Bakare Other Four Southwest APC Aspirants Meet

Seven presidential contenders from the Southwest met in Abuja only hours after President Muhammadu Buhari met with the governing All Progressives Congress’s presidential candidates.

The gathering, which began on Saturday night and lasted until Sunday morning, saw regional stakeholders struggle for a consensus candidate.

Details of the meeting are still vague at this moment, but a source informed Newsmen that stepping down for the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, and the party’s head, Bola Tinubu, would be tough.

2023 Presidency Is Our Turn, Ndigbo Tells Southwest, Northern Leaders

The seven aspirants from the region include Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo; former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu; Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State; Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Ajayi Boroffice; former Ogun State governor, Ibikunle Amosun; Lagos cleric, Pastor Tunde Bakare and a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls that President Buhari had during the meeting on Saturday, urged the 23 aspirants to consult, discuss within themselves and come up with a candidate before the primary election slated for Monday.

Recall also that Northern governors elected on the platform of the ruling party have also zoned the 2023 presidency to the South, urging President Buhari to endorse an aspirant from the South.
