The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), according to Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, is no match for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state’s 2023 elections.

The governor criticized Rabiu Kwankwaso, his predecessor and former principal, for forming a new political party and his prospects of winning any election in the state.

Kwankwaso and the NNPP, according to Ganduje, pose no danger to the ruling party’s chances in the 2023 elections, both at the federal and state levels.

According to the governor, Kwankwaso’s continual switching of political parties has cost him a lot of ground.

Ganduje claimed that he is not worried about the poaching of some political heavyweights from the APC into the NNPP.

He said: “He was in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), I was with him, and we moved to the APC. By so doing, we lost some followers in the process. Then he moved back to the PDP, and he lost more followers. And now he has moved to a new party, he has also lost some followers.

“So you see that when people are on nomadism in terms of politicking, they will tend to lose some followers along the line. So we have a formidable chance of winning the election in Kano.”

Anaedoonline.ng reports that Kwankwaso, who was elected twice as governor of Kano on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had defected to the APC in 2013.

He, however, returned to PDP in 2018 and, in March 2022, he left the party again for the newly formed NNPP, where he is set to emerge as the party’s presidential candidate.
