Owo Church Attack: Police Reveals No Arrest Have Been Made

Ondo State Police Command dismissed allegations that the gunmen who assaulted attendees at St Francis Catholic Church in Owo had been caught on Friday.

Recall that on June 5, accused Fulani herders stormed St. Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa Street, Owo, during a church service, killing over 30 people and wounding over 60 more.

According to a viral video circulating on social media, the criminals were apprehended by the Nigerian Army, Amotekun Corps, and other security agencies working together.

Residents of Owo descended on Olowo’s palace, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, to confirm the arrest.

The monarch while trying to placate the crowd said he also heard the rumour and urged them to remain calm.

However, Funmilayo Odunlami, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, told newsmen that she was not aware of the arrest.

She said:“I can not confirm anything like that. There is no story like that in the state.”
