Recall that according to a statement issued by the Metropolitan Police, Ekweremadu and his wife were charged in court on June 23 following the start of a police specialized crime squad investigation.

The police initiated an inquiry after investigators were notified to suspected crime under modern slavery regulations in May 2022.
