Abdulmumin Jibrin, a former member of the House of Representatives, has dispelled rumors that Peter Obi of the Labour Party and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria’s Peoples Party, NNPP, will be each other’s vice presidential candidates.

Jibrin made this statement on Sunday during an appearance with Channels Television amid rumors that the Kwankwaso and Obi are in merger negotiations.

He stressed that Kwankwaso, who he claimed to be one of the most well-liked leaders in the north of the country, would receive at least 70% of all votes and that Obi could only receive 30%.

He said, “Very clearly, Kwankwaso will not be a running mate to Peter Obi. By every standard, Kwankwaso should be the presidential candidate due to his numerous experiences”.

“At the end of the day , when you look at contribution in terms of votes, it will be a ratio of about 70 to 30%. We are looking at bringing 70% of votes from the North”.
