2023: Presidential Aspirant Collapses Structure Into Peter Obi’s Labour Party

As a presidential candidate for the National Rescue Movement collapses his structure within the party, support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), has increased.

On Wednesday night, LP disclosed that Martin Agbaso and his followers, including presidential candidate Emeka Mandela, supported Obi’s campaign.

The party claims that Mandela’s presidential organization formally disbanded and became the Labour Party for the former governor of Anambra State.

This occurs while the LP is attempting to merge with the New Nigeria Peoples Party, which will run Rabiu Kwankwaso for president in 2023.

Obi and Kwankwaso have discussed the potential of joining forces to drive out the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.

The fact that neither presidential contender is willing to withdraw to serve as the other’s running mate appears to be a roadblock.

The Labour Party announced in a statement on Wednesday, “Labour Party today welcomed new members to our great party. Chief Martin Agbaso & His Supporters and Dr. Emeka Mandela, a presidential candidate from the National Rescue Movement (NRM), which has formally dissolved into the Labour Party for Peter Obi, are among the new members.
