Chief Johnny Chukwudi Metchie, the president general of the Umueri community in Anambra State, has refuted rumors that herdsmen broke into his village.

In a social media video that has gone viral, a man claims that gunmen who may have been Fulani herdsmen attacked the Umueri community.

However, Metchie issued a press release on Thursday that he personally signed warning against disseminating untrue information that could incite conflict between Fulani herdsmen and community people.

Additionally, he issued a warning to people who were disseminating false information, particularly a man going by the name of Delight.

He claims that preliminary investigations by the police and the neighborhood watch organization have shown that the deceased was not killed by Fulani as Delight claimed in the video.

“Please, disregard every information from that fellow claiming that the man was killed by Fulani men because, our preliminary investigation and that of the police, which led to a confession by one of the killers apprehended by Umueri vigilante men has revealed that the man was not killed by the Fulani herdsmen.

“But instead of wait for confirmed report from the people who are handling the case, someone chose to act silly, with the aim of provoking crisis between Igbos and the Fulanis in Igboland. This is unacceptable”, he added.
