Bola Tinubu’s campaign for president of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to rumors that the former governor of Lagos State visited the former President Goodluck Jonathan to seek his blessings before the 2023 election.

According to an earlier report by Anaedoonline.ng, Kashim Shettima, Tinubu’s running partner, and other APC leaders met with Jonathan on Tuesday.

A source in Tinubu’s camp who talked with Newsmen said that although the specifics of their discussion were not made public, the visit was an extension of the APC national leader’s interaction with key stakeholders ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

The source said Jonathan was delighted to see them and was open to consultation on the APC presidential candidate’s desire, adding that Tinubu’s visit should not have come as a surprise to anyone because he has no grudges with anyone, whether they are in the party or the opposition.

His visit to Jonathan shouldn’t have surprised anyone, according to the source. No one, including members of his own party or the opposition, is a target of Tinubu’s resentment.

Nze Chidi Duru, the APC’s deputy national organizing secretary, has denied rumors that Tinubu and Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, have a falling out.

Tuesday, Chidi Duru denied there had been any disagreements between them on the make-up of the party’s presidential campaign committee.

According to him, Tinubu’s team and the party’s national leadership were working together.

He said: “There’s no power tussle over positions. None of such has happened and the party and the candidate are working together. But it’s important to say that we agreed on DG and spokesman.”
