On Tuesday, 17 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirants for governor paid a visit to Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State.
As previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng, Mustapha Sule Lamido, the party’s flagbearer in Jigawa State, led the governorship candidates.
At his private residence in Rumueprikon, Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, Governor Wike was met for a discussion.
Isa Ashiru, a candidate for governor of Kaduna State, and Yakubu Lado Danmarke, a contender for governor of Katsina State, are among the candidates present at the meeting.
According to a government source who spoke with Punch under the condition of anonymity, the candidate for governor came to plead Governor Wike.
He revealed that one of their requests is for Governor Wike to back the party’s presidential nominee Atiku Abubakar and vice presidential candidate Ifeanyi Okowa.
Additionally, the governorship contenders begged Rivers State Governor to back Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairman.
The source added that they pleaded with Governor Wike to overlook Atiku’s past transgressions and to stand behind PDP figures who may have insulted him.
The meeting, according to the insider, went over two hours.
