Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential hopeful, met with the group’s National Working Committee on Wednesday (NWC).
The meeting between Tinubu and the party leaders reportedly took place at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
As this platform previously reported, a high level of security was in place during the conference, and access to the APC secretariat was restricted for security and crowd control reasons.
Senator Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State and APC vice presidential candidate, was also present at the meeting.
Our correspondent learned that the conference covered a variety of topics, including party policies and plans to win the country’s upcoming general elections in 2023.
APC leader Joe Igbokwe shared a video on his Facebook page that provided additional details about the meeting’s events, including a clip of Tinubu speaking to the NWC members.
Below is what he said in the video.
“…To the National Working Committee, we welcome you to this office in the spirit of success. We started with prayer, we gonna end up with prayers,” Tinubu said.
The former Lagos Governor described the meeting as a family affair, assuring that APC is the right party to lead Nigerians to prosperity.
He said; “I can’t pick you up individually but I say welcome because it’s a family thing for all of us and we are facing a very crucial election and this election is going to decide and navigate the way forward for our country between progressives and the conservative thinkers. Between ideas and actual execution of actions that will lead Nigeria to a realizable hope and prosperity.”
The APC presidential candidate informed the NWC members that every stakeholder is already working to secure the party’s success during the 2023 elections. He added that he is confident the party will be successful at the polls with everyone’s dedication and commitment.
“I assure you, we’ve started working, we’ve started thinking, harnessing our brain and together, the party and the candidates working in various capacities with commitment and dedication, we will all wear the medal of honour,” he added.
