The Labour Party (LP) has denounced the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration over the shutdown of the state’s Ladipo and Oyingbo markets due to allegations of vendors’ careless rubbish disposal.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Lagos State Government recently declared that it will permanently close the Ladipo and Oyingbo markets in the state by Thursday, September 22, 2022, due to complaints over traders’ indiscriminate rubbish disposal.
The traders engaged in careless garbage disposal, failed to pay for waste services, and generally practiced bad waste management, according to the state administration.

In a statement released on Monday night in response to the development, the party’s national publicity secretary, Arabambi Abayomi, accused the APC-led government of being “intolerant and highly crude,” adding that the government was “now being known to be completely dictatorial, Hitlerite, and recklessly very undemocratic.”
Further expressing disbelief over the development, he scowled at the justification, calling it “deceptive,” and accused the government of being authoritarian, intolerant, and biased.
He also cited the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees each person the freedom to live and work in any location inside the nation, in a warning that tyrannical and evil governance is the root cause of popular uprising.

While calling on the security agencies to act, the party added that it “entirely and absolutely condemns this act that points in the direction of babaric and dangerously primitive politics of the APC all over the country.”
The statement reads partly; “Closing Ladipo and Oyingbo markets in Lagos indefinitely , two predominantly major centers of Igbos businesses with a view to ruin their businesses because they are confessed and very unrepentant loyal supporters of LP in Lagos is intolerant, callous, insensitive, repressive, a direct discriminatory and oppressive act by the Lagos APC Government.
“Of course, Lagos is not unaware that her own Citizens also work and live in other States in the Country. Must Lagos Government be this given to evil against fellow Nigerians?
“The Constitution of Nigeria guarantees every citizen the freedom to live and work in any part of the country.
