The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have been urged by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to stop the ongoing strike.

On February 14, the lecturers at public universities began their strike.

The Buhari administration and ASUU were warned by CAN President Rev. Daniel Okoh that letting young people stay at home could have negative effects.

“I call on the Federal Government to do all that is necessary so that these youths will go back to the universities and engage with their studies.

“It often said that idle minds are the devil’s workshop, idle lips are his mouthpiece,” he warned.

The religious leader urged Nigerians to vote in the general elections of 2023 the following year.

Okoh advised eligible voters to register and vote by getting their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
