2023: Obaseki Opens Up On Dumping Atiku, Backing Peter Obi

Edo State’s governor, Godwin Obaseki, has denied rumors that he supported Peter Obi’s bid for the presidency on behalf of the Labour Party (LP).

In a statement provided to Newsmen and signed by Crusoe Osagie, his special adviser to the governor of Edo State on media projects, Obaseki referred to rumors that he had abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDPAtiku )’s Abubakar for Obi as being completely false and nasty.

The bogus story, according to the statement, is being spread by opponents with hidden agendas who want to deceive and misinform the public for their own gain.

Osagie said, “The news item in a section of the media, stating that Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has endorsed the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is absolutely false and malicious.

“No statement to such effect originated from the governor.

The governor’s aide further noted, “Governor Obaseki has, from the onset of the electioneering cycle, been at the forefront of the campaign for our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), its candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa.
