Raphael Onyedika, Club Brugge’s midfielder, will hope to continue his fine form when they travel to Spain to face Atletico Madrid in their return Champions League match on Wednesday (today).

The 21-year-old was on the field as the Belgian champions won the first leg 2-0 at Jan Breydel Stadium last week.

Carl Hoefkens’ side now leads Group B with nine points from three games, while Spanish giants Atletico Madrid are last with three points.

Since making his €10m transfer to Brugge, the Nigerian midfielder has been exceptional and manager Carl Hoefken will be banking on him for another brilliant performance on Wednesday.
Brugge have not put a foot wrong in this season’s Champions League, opening their 2022/23 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, before thumping Porto 4-0 in Portugal a week later.

The Belgians, who are yet to concede a goal in the group stage, have been regulars at this stage of the European Cup in recent years, but they have been unable to make the step into the knockout round.

The Belgian champions will hope to continue their streak of excellent performances in the Champions League.

Atletico will be gunning for revenge against Brugge at the Wanda Metropolitano but a win for the visitors will leave them in a strong position ahead of their final two games against Porto and Bayer Leverkusen.
