The Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, has come under fire from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Anambra chapter over his refusal to openly support the party’s nominee for president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Recall that when the interviewer on Channels Television asked the minister who he favored between Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), he declined to make a decision.

He said that because both of the presidential contenders were his friends, it would be difficult to pick between them.

The state chapter of the party distanced itself from the minister’s statement in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja and personally signed by the Anambra state chairman, Chief Basil Ejidike.

The party had commenced grassroots mobilization for Tinubu’s triumph, the party leader disclosed.

He claims that Anambra APC will put up a lot of effort to offer Tinubu an unexpected outcome in the election.

Ngige’s comments during the interview, according to Ejidike, were purely personal and did not represent the views of the party in Anambra state.

The party chairman said; “Ngige never said he represented the party during the interview and whatever he said was personal and does not reflect the position of the party in Anambra state.”
