2023: PDP Bribing Our Members To Defect – YPP Reveals

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is accused of paying off members of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom to defect.

The Akwa Ibom YPP claimed that the state’s PDP was allegedly giving its members financial inducements to join their party.

The PDP was allegedly paying its members on purpose to reduce the number of party members, according to the YPP.

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, Nsikan Udoh, the YPP candidate for the House of Representatives in the federal district of Ikot Abasi, made the claims in Uyo.

In addition, he claimed that party members were being offered N500,000 in exchange for their defection to the PDP as part of a plot to undermine the YPP’s support and standing ahead of the elections the following year.

Udoh claimed that the PDP, out of fear of losing the election the following year, had developed strategies to distribute money to individuals in order to assure the victory of its candidates in the general election of 2023.

The state PDP’s response, however, was limited to claiming that the accusations were untrue and that the YPP was already unpopular and had no chance of winning the election.

Borono Bassey, the PDP’s state publicity secretary, called the accusation “completely baseless and absurd.”
