Terror Attack Alert: Julius Berger Shuts Down Operations In Abuja

Following a terror threat, construction behemoth Julius Berger on Saturday suspended operations in Abuja and its surroundings.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the United States and the United Kingdom have issued travel warnings regarding potential terrorist strikes in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Julius Berger then made the decision to stop operations until further notice.

The Federal Government promised protection to FCT residents and those living nearby, stressing that security measures were in place.

Engineers Lars Bichter and Poul Nielsen, the company’s managing director and corporate security manager, respectively, issued a statement in which they recommended their personnel to stay away from public places over the weekend.

According to the statement, in response to the ongoing security concern within the FCT and Central Abuja, “it is advised to avoid all public events within the FCT environment, including supermarkets, restaurants, hotels, bars, clubs and other areas where many meet.

“This advice is applicable from 28.10.2022 in the evening until Monday, 31.10.2022 in the morning.”

The company, therefore, reiterated its determination to move to other JBN work or residential locations throughout the weekend, as the safety of its workers is important.

When contacted, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Josephine Adah, said she’s unaware of the notice.
