Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, claims his opponents have no proof that he receives a percentage of Lagos State’s revenue.

This was said by the former Lagos governor in an interview with BBC News on Monday, shortly after his presentation at the Chatham House in London, United Kingdom.

The APC candidate further said that individuals who questioned his source of riches were motivated by envy, and that he has not received a government contract or job since leaving office in 2007. Tinubu served as governor of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007 and has since affected who becomes governor of the country’s economic nerve center.

His riches, he claims, came from real estate ventures.

“I am not denying my wealth. I was the most investigated, the most accused governor in the opposition for eight years and since I left the office, I have not taken any government appointment, no government contract,” he said.

Asked whether he gets a share of Lagos revenue, Tinubu said, “Hey, excuse me, share, what? Have they proven it? The World Bank, (and) the International Monetary Fund have investigated the records in Lagos. What’s wrong with them? It’s envy.”

He further stated that if he is not running in the 2023 general elections, he will not vote for any of his opponents.

Tinubu clearly stated that if he is not on the ballot, he will neither vote for Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) or Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

When asked if he would vote for Atiku or Obi if he wasn’t running, Tinubu answered,

“None, because they are not as competent as any other person out there. They have no track record, none of them is qualified except me.”
