Eseni Egwu, 39, was slain on Monday in the hamlet of Ekoli Edda in the Ebonyi State’s Afikpo South Local Government Area.
On Boxing Day, it was reported that the incident started when Ebebeagu Security Outfit members fought with local youngsters.
According to a local source, Stanley Okoro-Emegha, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress, accompanied by Ebebeagu operatives, they arrived at the local market square, patrolled, and fired periodically into the air before leaving.
The source added that the development drew local adolescents, who in agreement with certain elders announced that residents should enter their homes for safety.
